Visit to the Nevidio Canyon – the last conquered canyon in Europe
Canyon Nevidio has located 50 km from Zabljak in the direction towards Savnik and Niksic on the southern slopes of Mount Durmitor and represents the last conquered canyon in Europe. It was first conquered in 1965, and until then it hasn’t been seen, from where comes its name Nevidio (Never Seen) or Nevidbog (Never Seen by God).
It is the last conquered canyon in Europe and represents a unique tourist attraction located in the immediate vicinity of the main road Zabljak – Savnik. The locals of this region also call Nevidio “Nevidjbog”, because the Komarnica river suddenly disappears in a fantastic carved canyon, which is mostly in eternal shadow because the sun’s rays cannot reach the bottom, due to the high rocks.
So inaccessible, the Nevidio canyon has attracted attention and curiosity for years, but few have dared to explore it and get to know it properly.
The Nevidio Canyon is about 2 km long, and the area around the Nevidio Canyon is one of the most beautiful areas of the Durmitor region.
Nevidio Canyoning is a must-see tourist attraction, and it takes 2-3 hours, and apart from good physical condition and a professional guide, such as the guides of Rafting Camp Modra Rijeka, professional equipment (diving suits and shoes) is necessary due to the steep and inaccessible rocks and low water temperature, around 7-8°.
Important note: Canyoning doesn’t require special physical readiness, but all participants have to be swimmers and older than 18 years! The passage through the Canyon is not advised without the assistance of a licensed guide! That is the reason why you definitely should contact the Rafting camp Modra Rijeka team!
Nevidio Canyon tour
08:30 – Breakfast in Modra Rijeka Rafting camp. Departure and drive through the beautiful landscapes to the starting point of Canyon Nevidio. The road borders Piva Lake, over the hydroelectric power plant Mratinje, 240m high. Attractive landscapes offer opportunities to enjoy viewing and photographing the natural and wild beauty of Montenegro.
10:00h – Arrival in front of the canyon Nevidio and preparations for your Montenegro canyoning adventure. Getting adequate, licensed equipment and dressing. Details and instructions are provided by licensed guides who are experienced, active alpinists and rescuers.
10.30h – Your canyoning adventure finally begins. The very unique canyon Nevidio has indescribable beauty with its gorges, cascades and foamy falls. Its width in some places is less than one meter, and the greater part of the canyon is in a perpetual shadow, because the sunlight, blocked by the rocks, cannot reach the bottom. We will stop at the most attractive stops in the canyon Nevidio for enjoyment and photography.
14.30h – Lunch at fabulous Ethno restaurant or in Rafting Camp Modra Rijeka Changing and removing equipment. Departure to Rafting Camp Modra Rijeka.

El rafting nos encantó, aunque la mejor época es abril, mayo, junio, que el río lleva más agua. Aún así merece mucho la pena ver el Río Tara, el agua es impresionante. Recomendación personal: madrugar y bajar a ver el río a primera hora, con la neblina de la mañana y los primeros rayos de sol.
